Ruffly Dresses

For the last 2 weeks, I've been trying to put in an order, with Old Navy. Yes, it's been a struggle. Left me wanting to just run away from my computer! It's some sort of issue with using a "VISA gift card." But I'm not giving up. One being, I have a $500 gift card to use! And I really want this dress...

Isn't she pretty? The minute I saw it, I wanted it! Yes, I did! The style, the color, everything about this dress makes me happy! Those ruffles, oh they are AMAZING!

Then I saw this blue one. Which I LOVE even more! But it's out of stock. Ugh! I wish they sold these in the stores. Or get a new stock. I really want this beautiful, blue dress. ♫

Inexpensive Summer Trends

So a few weeks ago, I was watching GMA. And they were talking about summer fashion. Lara had some fun suggestions. And well, it got me thinking. So here is Lara's list...with some of my thoughts. :)

Lara's List of Six

1. Emerald green cut cocktail ring
Cost/where to buy: H&M, $5.95. Check with your local H&M store for availability.

Sounds pretty great to me. You know me and my love for accessories. Funny how rings are quickly becoming my favorites! Now if we could just get an H&M store nearby, I'd be one happy lady!

2. Soft crop olive pants
Cost/where to buy: American Eagle's Aerie line, $14.95

I can't lie, I have 4 pairs of these. From Old Navy! I got them on clearance 2 years ago. For $2 a pair! They're my favorite in hot weather. :)

3. Striped women's scoop-neck tee
Cost/where to buy: Old Navy, $8.50

Really? So easy! I've got a bunch of striped tees. They actually remind me of sailing. I don't know why...

4. Macramé belt
Cost/where to buy: Old Navy, $17.94

Really? I might have to go raid my Mom's closet. She has a ton of these! Totally from the 80s!

5. Brown and gold sequence gladiator sandals
Cost/where to buy: Payless, $19.99

I'm so not a fan of sandals. Especially gladiator sandals. But I know some people out there must enjoy them...

6. Blue and white trend items
Cost/where to buy: H&M, various items price under $20. Check your local H&M store for availability.

Really? I have a ton in my closet. Funny how lots of these things are already in my closet. And I got them on clearance. For under $5 a piece.

So what do you think? Anything you love or hate? I'll be the one in leggings, ballet slippers, and silly rings all summer long. How about you? ♫

Yes, Please

Is it possible to fall in love with a dress? Because I think I have. Let's not get too dramatic here. But this is such a cute dress! Not something I'd usually go for. But I really do like it! The light blush color. The detail at the bust. And the fun polka dots. Maybe it just reminds me of warm summer nights. Happy Friday! ♫

My Love of Teal

The weather is getting hotter. Much hotter. I spent 1 night in my house this week, I wanted to die! 101 outside. 115, in my bedroom! That's with the windows open, fans on, and at 8PM. Lord, it's going to be a hot one!

But with the heat, comes my love of color. I've been so drawn to the color teal lately. Actually for the last few years. Especially in the warmer months. Why? I don't know. Maybe because it reminds me of a cool, and clear ocean.

I'd LOVE to add a few of these things to my closet. Or a nice flowy, summery dress. Heck, I'd even go for the nail polish. Anything that is just a little summery. You know, the weather knows it's summer. It's time for the rest of me to catch up! ♫

Polka Dot Fun!

How fun is this bathing suit? I don't know what is more fun. The polka dots. The style and cut. Or the vibrant red. If you know anything about me, know this, I don't swim. Because I don't know how. I don't wear bathing suits. Or shorts for that matter. But this suit, I would wear it! Happy Saturday! ♫

Seeing Love...

Everything about this dress makes me smile. I don't know what it is. But I really do LOVE it! Everything. The silhouette. The color. And especially, the polka dots. Now, if I just had some extra money... ♫

Vintage Dresses

I'm not talking about dresses I'd wear today. Oh no! I'm talking about all those dresses I wore as a little girl. They seem to be making a comeback. Have you noticed? Lots of bloggers are hunting for them. I read about "Vintage Lovers" searching high and low. And you see so many little girls wearing these cute dresses.

Just take a look at this picture. I swear, I wore almost all of those dresses! And this is not a picture I took. Rather, one that I found online. But look at these fun dresses. From times past. When life was easier. And do we dare say, full of a lot more fun!

I know, I know. Most little girls didn't have the number of clothes, dolls, and books that I did. But those little dresses, were definitely my favorite! A number of which, my Mom mad for me. And although, some have been lost through the years. Thanks to relatives that never returned them. :( I still have a number of these precious gems. Who knows, one day, my own daughter might be running around in my favorite dresses! ♫

Modcloth Love

Have you ever heard of Modcloth? It's the online store, that I'm in love with! No lie. I visit it multiple times a day. I think up ways to incorporate their clothes, into our shows. Just so I have a legitimate excuse to buy these gorgeous items!

Here are a few of my absolute favorite items. If only I could find them under the Christmas tree. Oh to dream...

By now, I'm pretty sure, most people know of my Scarf Obsession. This one is just so feminine. I love it!

And a fun hat. Seriously, it just makes me smile! And I can always use a hat, for those long walks to school and back.

But my favorite is this dress. It's just so girly. And yet, grown up. I like the richness of the color. And the fun details.

Isn't it fun to dream? If only I didn't have to pour all of my pennies into school. Maybe I could just buy one of these beauties! ♫

Can I Make One?

If you talked to anyone out there that knows me, and you ask them what one "Signature Style" item is, they'd tell you a scarf. Yes, I wear them daily. For at least 10 months a year!

I'm not picky. I'll wear the $5 scarves from Wal-Mart. The BOGO scarves from the Street Markets. Or, I'll make my own. Seriously, I'm not picky. I just like scarves.
my ever growing collection, well I think it says it all!

And now, I'm evolving. I'm really enjoying cowls. I found this picture while doing a Google search for a crochet scarf pattern. And I'm in LOVE! I'm going to try and make one. Make up my own pattern as I go. What do you think? Can I make one? Will it turn out OK? Will I use it? ♫

Gemma

I really do enjoy Gemma's videos. She has 3 YouTube Channels. One with her Beauty Videos, a Health Channel, and her Daily Vlogs. Gemma's Daily Vlogs are my favorite! She is just very entertaining to watch. What else can I say?

As far as her style, I really do enjoy it. That's why I watch her Beauty Channel. Because there are so many products that I've learned about. Like in this video, I just LOVE her scarf. It's my favorite!

Oh, and I really do like the British accent. This might be weird, but when I can't sleep, I put on one of these videos. Her voice puts me to sleep. Something that I'm grateful for. Especially when I only have 2 or 3 hours to sleep. But honestly, Gemma's videos are a lot of fun to watch! She also has a great blog! ♫

Shorts.

These are everyone's summer essentials. Shorts. Me, I haven't worn shorts, in public, for over 9 years! Yes, I'm 27 years old. I'm anywhere between a size 3-7 depending on what's going on. And I don't wear shorts. Did I mention...I live in the desert southwest. Here, it's easily over 100 degrees for almost 60 days a year!

Why don't I wear shorts? Um, I'm not really sure. Maybe because my legs are white as sin. Yes, I know, wearing shorts would help. But when you go from white to red to white, it's horrible! I've never been tan in my life! And then, my legs. I'm just not crazy about them. Sure, I workout a lot. I've got some cute muscular calves. But my thighs. Ugh! I've never liked them. Not when I was 16 years old and a cheerleader. With little to no body fat. Not now at 27 with a trainer that kicks my butt!

So there you go. Me and my evil enemy...shorts. I do wear pj shorts to sleep in. I really enjoy my old cheerleading shorts for working out at home. Never at the gym! But not even in my own yard, do I feel comfortable enough to wear shorts. It's something that I need to get over ASAP. You know, being that it was a cool 101 degrees yesterday. Oh, and the temperature is on the rise again! ♫

Simple Style

This is very much my style. Simple. Easy. Yet, elegant. Do you know what I mean? I must have 20 scarves, in different colors, that are similar to this one. Black, long sleeved tees, I just counted 5 in the dryer. The over sized handbag, ballet flats, and simple jewelry...those are some of my favorites.

Yes, I'm very low key when it comes to my "style." For casual days, this is pretty much what I wear. Maybe add a cute blazer. Or some long, dangly earrings. And you've got what I wear 90% of the time. But it feels and looks "pulled together." Like I made an effort. Even if I just rolled out of bed, after an "all nighter," studying for my clinicals. ♫

A Piece of the Past

There's just something fun about this outfit. A bit of a "throwback." It reminds me of a "Time Past." You know, like you were in a movie or a book. Set a few decades ago.

When life was a bit more simple. More about relationships, than careers. When people enjoyed the simple things in life. Like a cup of tea. Or really sat down, to get to know their neighbors. When books were the "common place past time."

It makes me smile. Just to think, at one time, ladies really were real ladies. Lace, pearls, and high heels. Oh, what I would give, to have lived then. To be a lady. A really lady. When dressing up, wasn't saved for a wedding. It was just an "every day look."

The days of fashion. When slips were commonplace. Women wore gloves. Sunday drives were a regular event. And Sunday dinners were for family and friends to share. Yes, a simple time. Filled with the important things...family, friends, and a little bit of fashion.

Yes, I'm a big fan of vintage clothing, style, and homes. It makes me think of our past. Of our history. I really would give anything to have lived then. Just for a day or two. To really live life. Since I can't, well, I can be inspired. I need to add a few more "ladylike" pieces to my closet. ♫
