What's in a Name?

In the spirit of Mi Rosita, and the Baby Shower that we're having today, to celebrate her, I'm going to blog about her. Yes, Mi Rosita has been on every one's mind lately. Her mommy gave us all a big scare, earlier this week. When we thought she was going into labor. Before her Baby Shower! I know. That's our fault. As in, our group of friends. The summer has been a busy one, for all of us! And we just kept postponing this thing.

But today, as I get the last minute details together, I can't help but think about Mi Rosita. And all that she's going to be. The simple task, of coming up with her middle name, is a tough one. One that A and I are struggling with.

For all, but one of my Goddaughters, I've been asked to come up with a middle name. I've been part of the 2 man crew, whose job is to pick the perfect name. A name that goes well with her first name, that her padres picked out. But a name that means something. That symbolizes something we, as Godparents, want to instill in our Goddaughter. A name that will describe our love.

This is not A and I's first time either. We've been a part of this rodeo, a time or two. Something that we're familiar to. But not completely at ease with. Our Compadres A, haven't made it too easy either. They're still debating on a few names. And A and I, we've narrowed down our list. It's tough. This little princess is going to have this name for life. It's got to be perfect!

Yes, her presents are finished. Perfectly wrapped. And all the decorations are sitting neatly in my car. Food is ready. And we have a little bit of preparation left to do, closer to "party time." But we're ready.

Mi Rosita's name, not so much. But the 4 of us are hard at work. I'm pretty sure, the minute we see this sweet little girl, her name will just speak to us. We'll have found the perfect name for her. The name that was meant for her, and her alone.

Yes, we take this whole Godparent, naming, loving thing seriously around here. Because it's the only way to do it! Mi Rosita, we love you so much. And can't wait to meet you. Just a few days left. But today, we're going to have some fun. And later, finish up your nursery! ♫

Polka Dottie Blankie

I don't know what is more precious, the baby in this picture, or the blanket. Honestly, both are making my heart smile. But back to the blanket. It's a crochet blanket! No lie. Isn't it just too cute?

I'm working on 7 separate ones. For some very precious baby girls. Yes, I know it sounds a little crazy. But it is so much fun. I just love this pattern. All those "polka dots." Since I couldn't find a pattern, I made up my own. And it's going surprisingly well.

Mi Princesa is also a big fan, of this fun pattern. Oh yes she is! I think it's the texture, that gets people interested. And Mi Princesa may have hinted at a new blankie. You know, to match her "Nap Mat" for school. I just might be able to squeeze that in! ;) Nah, she's not spoiled at all! ♫

We're Having a...

A GIRL! Times 5! No lie. I just found out, the last "expecting couple" of my friends, is having a baby girl. Which means, I will have 5 new Goddaughters. This Fall. I can't believe it! I'm super excited. All 5 of these little girls are blessings from God. I'm sure that My Music Man is also excited. He's going to be a "Nono" for the very first time.

Yup, we are all so excited! 5 new baby girls. Already loved so much. I always feel so blessed, when I'm asked to be a Godmother, or "Nana." It really is a special duty. One that I hold dear to my heart. Not only do I get to love these ninitas, I get to help guide them in their lives.

Now, this Nana needs to get busy. Finishing up gifts, nurseries, and Baptismo dresses. But honestly, I'm so excited! Congrats to all of my friends. This is going to be a fun ride. And I'm so excited to be a part of it! ♫

Who's Who

If you've been reading my blog, you're probably wondering...Who's who? Who are you talking about? Why do you use initials and not names? What's with these nicknames?

Well, I know my friends are cautious about their kids. And they have every right to be. So in our private blogs, we share pictures. And names. But here, I'll use initials. I've come up with nicknames, just for the blog, for my Goddaughters. They either have something to do with my Goddaughter's name, her favorite character, or something that reminds me of her. That's it.

But I know it can get a little confusing. So I'm going to try and give you a bit of a legend. Maybe it will make reading my blog a little more simple. A little easier to read and understand. So here goes...

The Girl is After My Heart!

Last week while we were on our adventure, my Mom and I saw this book. They wanted $22, because the Toy Store was on the Plaza. I knew I could get it cheaper. I have a Barnes and Noble Membership. And well, I just knew, some place had to have it for less.

Good thinking on my part. :) Earlier this week, I went to Wal-Mart. I needed water, bread, and ice. And while I was in those killer lines, I found this book. Stuck in with the magazines. Oh, and I had My 'Rella with me. She LOVED this cookbook! Totally geared towards little girls. She was just over the moon with it! All smiles. Telling me about all the "recipeses."

I couldn't resist. Especially when I noticed, it was only $10! Are you kidding me? Well, we just had to make something. So when we went to My Music Man's house to check it, you know, I'm supposed to be "House Sitting," we decided to cook. First, we checked the house. Picked up the mail. That sort of thing. And then, we raided the pantry. Thank God this man likes his comida!

Anyway, we made a couple of things out of the book. It really is so much fun. I can't wait to try it out with more of the ninitas. I know we are going to have a blast! I just need to get another copy of the book. My Compadres were pretty happy too. Who wouldn't be? We arrived with lots of goodies!

When I got ready to leave, My 'Rella said, "Nana, I loved today! We had so much fun! I can't wait to cook again. My second favorite thing in the world, is cooking with you. My first is cuddling and reading with you." Seriously! My heart grew about 100 times. I LOVE that girl! And now, I think we are both Cookbook Collectors. ♫

Any Given Tuesday...

On The Ranch, I've learned, to never really plan out my day. I need to get my work done, days ahead of time. Because, you just never know, what the day will bring. Like this morning. I decided to tackle the payroll. 2 days early. I thought it would be a slow day...

Then all sorts of yummy things happened. Ol' Blue Eyes came for a visit. he had us all laughing. And yearning to go out and drive a fast car. My Lil' Cowgirl was hanging out with J. She was also toting around in her Nana's high heels. This girly is learning early! Especially since her Godfather bought her a crown to wear too!

The guys were trying to clean up. You know, we had a horrible wind storm last night. Lots of clean up was required through the orchards. And we were getting in some animals at 9AM. The foreman insisted that I'm married to J. And that our Goddaughter, is really our daughter. This is a daily event. Which lead to all the guys, adding in their 2 cents.

I was also tackled with a crap load of government paperwork. The guys are getting ready to start hauling cattle again. So the proper paperwork needs to be done. And it had to be in the mail by 2PM. We received it at 9AM. Talk about hurrying!

But my boss and friend, J, always has something up his sleeve. Like at lunchtime. When he walked in with a yummy, iced cold Sonic drink. And My Lil' Cowgirl. Shortly followed with a bowl of strawberries, my favorite BBQ sandwich, and cucumber water. Does this man know me or what? I'm absolutely spoiled at work!

I should have known something was up. Especially when Ol' Blue Eyes mentioned our upcoming gigs. And then we went into updating the Band's website. And noticing, just how bad I am at updating people, on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. Ya, I suck!

The best was yet to come. You know, at the sleepy hour of 2PM. The office was a little quiet. The heat and the wind were picking up. And I could just tell, something was up. Then J started playing this song...

And before we knew it, we were on the porch...DANCING! In TRIPLE DIGIT WEATHER! Folks, I think we've lost it. Seriously, we have! Then we decided to get some stuff together for our "Big Gig" in October. More dancing. A little singing. And some fiddle playing.

During which time, our Goddaughter was fast asleep. On J's dogs. Who were also asleep. On the floor, in his office. When we were done with the band stuff, I picked some Sunflowers for the Break Room. Made some lemonade for the guys. And started printing checks.

Before long, hay was being piled onto trucks. Guys were hooting and hollering. They were working on the fields. Some were coming in for the day. And one guy, he was about to pass out from the heat. We threw him in a horse's water bucket. The thing is bigger than a bathtub! The guys covered him in ice. And I talked to him. Took his vitals. And before long, we had him inside drinking water.

Yes, that is just "Any Given Tuesday" on The Ranch. We're always moving forward. Rarely if ever, do we go off the plans for the day. We try to. Tasks need to get done by a certain time. But every day life, well, it just happens. And we're just trying to get it all done. Before the sun goes down.

Now I'm getting ready to leave. My Lil' Cowgirl is chasing Chance (the dog) and J is talking to some of the guys. Ol' Blue Eyes is eating. And 2 other dogs, are swimming. In the pool! I tell you, this is the life! Who else gets paid to make payroll, eat yummy food, play with their Goddaughter, laugh with their friends, and dance? I'm not sure. But my job is pretty wonderful! ♫

For an Angel

I just want to ask, anyone and everyone reading this, to please say a prayer. Just a little prayer for my Goddaughter. My 'Lil Southern Belle is having brain surgery today. And she could use every good thought and prayer, that she can get. Just take a few moments, and ask God to watch over her. In her short 8 months, she's suffered so much. All I ask of you, is to remember her. And ask God to have some grace, for this sweet little angel. ♫

For the Royal Familia G

I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned it on here, my friends, Familia G, are going on "bacation." They're heading to Disney World, and on a Disney Cruise. They leave on Tuesday. And I'm not sure if I'll be back, before they leave....

But I've been trying to help my Commadre, get ready for their trip. Lots of work goes into a 3 week long trip. With 5 kids! All under 5 years old!!!

Yesterday after church, my Compadres invited A and I over. For dinner. And yum! It was delish! But while we were waiting, A and I were exploring the internet. We may or may not have gotten on facebook. Yes, I started one, to communicate with mi familia. My FB page, for my friends, well that will stay private. Ya, some things are better left that way. :)

Anyway, A and I are Mi Princesa's Godparents. And she is super excited about this trip. Being a princess and all. I may or may not have made her a few "special" outfits. And A...well he is sending her off with a few hundred dollars. Yes, for a 4 year old!!! What is he thinking?!?!?!

Now you can probably imagine, why people think, that she is our kid. But it's the truth. We spoil her to death! And after some FB time, we decided to hunt for some "princess" stuff. Our Princesa joined us. And we found this...

Mi Princesa gave me "that look." And I folded. I went to my car and dug out some lavender yarn, and a hook. And I got to work. By dinner time, it was nearly done. And when her sisters came in, they wanted one too!

After dinner, I set to crocheting. A was entertaining all of us. Reading the ninitos books. Amazing voices and all! He pulled out his guitar, and serenaded us. Which I'm sure, my Compadre just loved!

An hour after the ninitos bedtime, and my Compadres had finished the dishes, A had gotten all into a PBS special...well, I finished 5 crowns. 5 different colors. You know, Familia G has a "color system" for their kids. So the crowns had to be 5 different colors. But it was fun!

I'm sure they will all have a great time! And I'm glad I could add to the "magic" of their trip! It kills me that I can't go to! Who wouldn't want to visit the "Happiest Place on Earth?" Especially when O offered up his house. Yes, Familia G is staying with him. And there is still plenty of room for a few more amigos. Too bad I have to work...and I still don't have any money.

And to top it all off, A just called. He's heading out with the guys. They're flying to a gig. He joked with me, that the entire Mariachi wanted a crown. What is that you say? 20 crowns for grown men? I just might have to go to the Dollar Tree. Because those are the only crowns they're getting from me! Happy Friday! ♫

I Can Count on Him

It's really funny. The last person I thought I could count on, has really been here for me. If you would have told me this 2 years ago, when we barely muttered hi to one another, I would have laughed! But in the last year, My Music Man, has really stepped up his game.

Let's just talk about the last 48 hours...

Yesterday, I had planned on cleaning my yard. Let's not even talk about the disaster I found, when I got home. You know, last week, we had the graduation party. And I was gone for a few days. I should know better. But when I got home, I found almost all my flowers were dead. The grass was yellow! Triple digit temps are literally killing me.

And for anyone that lives around here, they know that Codes Enforcement is all over these things. So I needed to clean. And I had a crap load to clean! And only days to do it in. Because I'm going back to my hometown, later this week.

My neighbor...well she was on her 3rd day of partying. At 11AM, on a Sunday morning. The street was lined with cars. And I didn't want to "ruffle any feathers." So I put off the cleaning. Because we share a fence. And I really respect her parents. They no longer live there, but they own the house.

So I went in my house. And tried to occupy my time with something else. Until I heard bottles breaking. I found that the party-ers were throwing their beer bottles into my backyard. I didn't go all psycho. I probably should have. But I didn't. I just went back inside. And tried to cool down.

Hard to do, when the outside temps are near 100. You can just imagine what it was like inside my house. With no AC. But I tried. I could feel my blood boiling over. And somehow, he just knew. Before I knew it, My Music Man was at my front door...

He came over to help. He knew I had a lot of work to do. And he is only here, until the middle of the week. So we had sorta planned things out. He'd come over and help for a few hours. Well, nothing was getting done. I was getting madder by the second. And a certain hombrecito, well, he suggested we head over to his house.

You see, last week we made plans. Which included taking Big M out to dinner. That was the plan for Sunday night. So we headed to his house. He put on the NASCAR race, made me lunch, and left me to cool off. I was that mad!

Meanwhile, he left. To go pick up Big M. By the time he got back, he had Mi Princesa, and Little M. Oh, and My Jellybean. :) 4 girls, 3 sisters, 2 Goddaughters. Oh, and Jeff Gordon won the race! Things were looking up.

We went out to dinner. At the Double Eagle. Yum! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed dinner. About 20 people came to our table. To compliment us on our beautiful and well behaved daughters. :) Do I look that nuts? 4 under 5? But we smiled and said Thanks.

And we met my favorite chef...My Music Man's little brother. He works at the restaurant that is 1/2 a block away. He met us at the Candy Store. Where we all had some yummy ice cream. Well, My Jellybean had some leche. :)

The girls ran around. We may or may not have taken a detour. You know, for some new toys. :) There was a little bit of Echo watching. And pleading with a certain uncle for the videos. And eventually, we got them home by 10PM. We're such a bad influence! But their parents' all looked very happy. A few hours without the kiddos...

I got home to find the party in full swing. And my neighbor managed to party until 3AM! I was not a happy camper. At all! Third night in a row! But I had plans on Monday. To CLEAN my yard. I didn't care how it was getting done. Or who was still partying next door. I was going to be cleaning!

At sunrise, My Music Man showed up. And we got to work. Pulling and dragging dead tree limbs. Every single time it is windy, at least 4 big limbs break from my trees. We pulled weeds. Bagged leaves. Where were they from? I have no clue. We picked trash off my fence. Mowed the lawn. Pulled out the grass in the flowerbeds. And did whatever else needed to be done. I had just cleaned my yard. The day before I left for my hometown...

My neighbor, she wasn't happy. At 6:15AM, she was screaming at me. At 6:30AM, she was cussing out My Music Man. By 7AM, I had 3 bags full of broken beer bottles, and 2 of cans. She was also calling her dad.

By 8AM, my old neighbor, was apologizing to me. I wasn't trying to make his daughter look bad. But I wanted him to see what I was dealing with. We had pictures. And bags of trash. She was still screaming. The 2 elderly neighbors, one lives across the street, the other next door, soon joined us. And we all talked.

I think things were sorta figured out. That nut job was still screaming. Her dad was still apologizing. Her little girl was crying, and her ex, well he was just trying to pick up their daughter. And he was thanking me for his daughter's birthday present. The same one, that had been thrown at me, just an hour before. I'm pretty sure, the dresses had gotten dirty. But little A was in heaven with her present.

All this time, My Music Man had my back. He defended me. Kept his cool. And tried to help me keep mine. Which at this point, was tough. After all the excitement died down, we got back to work. And by 1PM, we were ready to die! Red faces, 2 broken shovels, and 20 bags of yard waste, we were done. He went home. I went inside to clean up.

I was gone for days. Yes, days. As in, less than a week! And my yard got that bad. You see, I spend about 2-3 hours working in my yard. Every single day. During the summer. It's that big. And requires that kind of maintenance. Some days, I just wish that it was all dirt...

But my friend, he was there to help. And he even came back...with lunch. This evening, he returned. With Big M, some flower bulbs, and ice cream sundaes. We enjoyed the shady part of the yard. Ate all of our ice cream. Big M helped plant the bulbs. And my psycho neighbor yelled until her roommate came home.

Friends like this, they don't come around often. And I don't just mean the ones that bring you stuff. I mean the ones that are there for you. I can sit here all night, and tell you about the amazing things he does. Like going to Patrick's funeral. Just in case I needed him. Or protecting me from my psycho stalker. Or bringing me chicken noodle soup, when I had the flu.

He's a great guy. An amazing friend. And one of the best people I know. Who else, would spend their days off...helping me with my yard work? Or taking a bunch of kiddos out to dinner. Or putting up with my cranky butt? Not many.

I'm glad that we're friends. I'm glad that we met...almost 10 years ago! And that he talked to me every single day...until I caved. Because My Music Man is much more than a friend. We're starting to feel a heck of a lot like familia. More than family. You know, we were just meant to find each other. ♫

Fairy Godmother???

That is what my Commadre S called me today at church. Why? I've agreed to do 2 things for her familia. What? Help her package up some fun and inexpensive toys, for her 5 kiddos. They're heading off, to the most Magical Place on Earth...Disney World. And a Disney Cruise!

They leave the day after Father's Day. And well, with 5 little ones, and 2 parents...they've decided, that they need to pack some stuff to keep the kiddos entertained. So my Compadres went out and bought some "travel appropriate" toys and snacks. I'm going to package everything up for the trip.

And I may have promised Mi Princesa a little something too...

This darling little outfit. The one that we spotted together...let's just say...it's been a few months. So off to the fabric store I go. I need to have it done by Thursday. Because I'm going out of town!

Fairy Godmother? I'm not sure. But I'm trying to help out my friends. I know that they're going to enjoy their trip. Their 3 oldest girls, well they can't stop talking about all the fun they're going to have! I'm so happy for them. :)

Now I just need to sit and sew. Never mind, that I'm still trying to recover from yesterday's wedding. And I have a HUGE yard to clean. I need to make Tinkerbell's outfit! Because Mi Princesa needs something special to wear, you know, for when she meets all her favorite princesses. ♫

Faith in God

I haven't updated you on My Lil' Southern Belle. For quite a while. But in her nearly 8 months, my little angel has been through so much. Do you remember her arrival? Ya, it's been tough.

And My Bestie, H, she's been struggling a lot too. Both of them have endured countless operations. My Bestie is now refusing anymore surgeries, until her little girl is doing better. And that worries me. So much!

The two really bright spots are, her brother is now with her all the time! And there is a particular man, that is just madly in love with H. And so desperately wants to be a Daddy, to this perfect little princess.

But life has not been easy. Unfortunately, I don't get to see them very often. Actually, it's been months since I've seen them. Because H lived in NC. Then a few weeks ago, she and her baby girl, were moved to TN. All for treatment. So, I don't get to see them. Not nearly as much as I'd like.

I do get to talk to H. And her brother. And this truly amazing man that loves her. The funny thing is, were all so deeply connected. My best friend, she married my boss/friend. We were the MOH and BM for the wedding. Then they separated. I became closer to Ol' Blue Eyes. And he hired H. Then we found out about My Lil' Southern Belle. Shortly after, there was this new man. Another good friend of Ol' Blue Eyes...

He and H became so close. He helped her with everything. Putting together her new house, moving, getting ready for the new baby girl. He spoiled them rotten. Bought them everything their hearts could desire. He is madly in love! Then, tragedy struck. We were all in Vegas. Except for H and her baby girl.

Now, Ol' Blue Eyes and I are Godparents, to this little angel. My friend has such an amazing support system. And a man that truly loves her. For her. And loves her baby girl. As if she were his own flesh and blood. H also got her little brother back.

On Tuesday, I got the biggest surprise ever! We were heading home. You know, our gig was over. I needed to get back to my hometown. For my niece's graduation party. And next week, on of my friends/band mates is getting married. So we loaded up some private plans. To head west.

What I failed to notice was, most of the luggage was going into our boss' plane. He told us, that he was going to head west for a few days too. Spend some time with the guys. They're going camping this weekend. And J's 2 planes were being loaded by the band and all our "crew." You know, wives, My Care Bear, Maestro G.

I boarded. Didn't think anything of it. And everyone was set to go home. What I failed to notice was, Ol' Blue Eyes and I, we were the only one in his airplane. Why? Because we were headed to TN, to see our Goddaughter.

By the time I realized, that we were the only 2 people there, the other planes were preparing for their departure. I really had no time to react. And when I found out we were going to TN, I cried. It was a short trip. And I knew it was going to be. But I was just so happy to see H and My Lil' Southern Belle.

No one knew of our plans either. Well, besides M and J. I was filled with excitement the entire flight. Just waiting to see My Bestie. The one woman, that is truly my sister. We've been through so much in our 23 years of friendship. It's unbreakable.

And the minute we walked into that room, my heart was overflowing with love. Pure emotion took over. My Bestie, all bandaged up. The unmistakable look of pain, worry, and anxiety on her face. I just hugged her. Held her as she cried. I was the strong one for her. Everything that she needed me to be. No words were shared. But everything I needed to know, I knew in that very instant.

When I got to hold that precious baby girl, I swear, I felt like God had wrapped his arms around us. She is no more than 9lbs. Not growing. Looking every bit like a newborn. Her head wrapped in bandages, and a small helmet. Tubes, IVs, and monitors surrounding her tiny body.

You'd think, with the work I do, I'd be used to this. But I wasn't. I clearly wasn't. Because this baby, I knew her. Personally. I loved her. I waited anxiously for her arrival. I prayed for her. I held her in my heart. And I was with her in the very beginning. For the first few days of her life. it was me and her. This was clearly different.

We spent a few hours there. I got to speak with her doctors, nurses, dietitians...anyone and everyone that was taking care of her. We talked about new treatments. The plans. The goals. What was next. What I thought might help. We consulted with other physicians. And I came out of it, feeling more at ease.

I wish that I had more days to spend with these 2 amazing people. Which I love so much! I wish that I could sit by that little crib, and sing lullabies, until my Goddaughter was fast asleep. I wish I could be there every single day for H. To help her through this. To make her stronger. And her daughter stronger. I wish I could. But life isn't like that. But for those few precious hours, I got to do just that.

I rocked this precious little girl. We talked. I sung my favorite lullabies. We read books. And I sat and listened to all those perfect baby sounds. I smelled her sweet baby smells. And watched her eat. I took in every second that I could. I needed to. We needed this.

And I did everything I could for H. Helped her shower. Washed her hair. Helped her to get dressed. Combed her hair. Got her good food. Made her bed a little more comfortable. Made sure she had snacks, magazines, and anything else she needed. We talked. We cried. We laughed. We hugged. And she told me that she was scared. So we prayed.

There are very few times in my life, when I've been this scared. But I was as strong as I could be. For this woman, my best friend, and her little girl. We'd walk through fire for each other. And on this day, I would have done anything that she needed. Anything.

And all there is left to do, is have faith in God. He knows best. He knows why we go through, what we go through. And only he knows why. So I told H, we must give him all of our pain, fear, and anxiety. We must trust, that he knows what's best. For all of us.

I do believe this. Deep in my heart and soul. Only God knows. And we must have faith in him. And trust him to do his work. Only he knows if this precious little girl, will ever live outside of a hospital. Or will be a normal little girl. To grow up, to be a normal woman. Only he knows.

But I still pray. And I ask for your prayers. For this little angel on Earth. And her Mommy. At the end of the end, they are really the only people that each of them has. And they need our love and prayers. Pray that God will do the best he can for them. Give them the best lives, that they can have. Please pray. ♫

Operation

I don't know about you, but I really do enjoy playing board games. I've always really enjoyed them. And now, I'm sharing my love of board games with the "itty bitties." We've got a pretty good collection going on at my house. Everything from Scrabble to the Disney Princess. And don't forget Cootie!

Most of the girls just LOVE to play Candyland. It was one of my favorites growing up too. Until I was about 5. But that story is for another time and another day. One of Care Bear and I's favorite game to play is Operation. She just loves it! And honestly, until a few years ago, I'd never played it!

We can easily get lost for hours and hours, just playing operation. Using our "skills." And just laughing at one another. Why did I not know about this game when I was younger? Maybe I wouldn't have been so opposed to dissection, in my high school Anatomy class. :)

And recently, I've run across this game. For the more "itty bitties." "My First Operation." More fitted for little hands. So as to not frustrate them. Now I just need to buy it! :P

What about you? Are you a "Closeted Board Game Lover" too? What's your favorite? I'm a HUGE fan! And I'm always looking for more games. Even if it's just me and a bunch of little girls playing. Ya, I'm the cool "Tia." ♫

Feliz Cumpleanos Mi Florecita

Mi Florecita,

It's been a whole ano since you were born! You've brought so much joy, love, and happiness to everyone around you. Your padres, they prayed and prayed for you. And 1 year ago, they're prayers came true.

I was never so blessed as the day we baptized you. Seeing your innocence. Reminding me that there is so much good in the world. That we can all make this a better place, just with a little bit of love.

This past year, I've enjoyed watching you grow. Taking you on adventures to the park. Dancing with you at our gigs. Showing you all the Santos at church. Nothing has made me more excited. Then to help you grow into a blessed ninita.

As much fun as we've all had, I know that the future holds so much more for us. So many more adventures. Many more memories to make. And lots of time to cherish. I can't wait until you really start talking. And we can have tea parties in the grass. Or read all the books in the library.

Today, I just pray that our Dear Lord watches over you. Makes you stronger. And helps us all, to guide you in your life. This is a day for celebrations. And for giving thanks. Because God sent us a very special gift. He sent us you to love!

Feliz Cumpleanos!

Besitos,
Tu Nana ♫

Tea for a Princess

Recently, Mi Princesa and I were looking at some crochet patterns. OK, I was searching for some new patterns. And she happened to be sitting in my lap. That's when we happened to stumble on this beauty.

Tea anyone? Looks like I need to start crocheting. :) Mi Princesa already has a tea set that I made her. But I have to say, this pattern is a million times cuter! What do you think? ♫

Making Magic

Making Magic. It's what Maestro G always tells us to do. When we are performing. Making the audience "feel" the music. Do more than play your instruments, sing the words, and dance. Make people feel the music. Make them cry. Remember. And fall in love.

Tonight, I take the stage with some of the most amazing musicians out there. Full of talent and accomplishment. On such a big anniversary. I'm beyond excited! And to know, these musicians are also some of my very best friends, I know that I'm blessed!

Now that my "Music Man," S and I are on good terms again, it makes many, many people happy. Por que? We trained together. I learned how to sing with him. We became the performers we are today, by working together. Many days and nights...blood, sweat, and tears...and even broken hearts, got us to where we are. And let me tell you, we know how to put on a show!

For days now, we've been rehearsing. Long after the participants and students have gone to bed, we are on the stage. Working with all the "Maestros." The lighting is perfect. There's not one mistake in the music. Everything is good to go. And in the middle of those "Canciones de Amor," my heart dancing. A feeling that I never thought would happen again.

Did you watch that? From 1:44-2:50, el Maestro G tells us, we can recreate that magic. On stage. For everyone to see. Ya, S gets that "sparkle" in his eye. And I roll my eyes! But tonight, we are pulling out all the stops. For one "Grand Performance!"

I've got my "Music Man" back. Two performers that are destined to perform together. Possibly forever. That part of our story...well it's still left to be written. But the music part, we can't deny that. We are a good team...together.

I can't help but have butterflies in mi pansa! I really can't. And to get to share the stage with all of my good amigos again. That alone is the reason I couldn't sleep last night. Add in my cute ahijadas who are dancing, and we are set for one grand Fiesta Mexicana! ♫

Princess Perfection

We happened to have a little "Princess Party" in my hotel room this morning. Being that some of my Goddaughters, and many of my favorite little girls are here, we decided to celebrate the Royal Wedding.

A was a great help in that. Of course all the girls were dressed to the nines! They had all of their princess gear on. Because what princess leaves home without all of their princess attire? Not these little ones.

We also made sure, that all these girls took a nap. A LONG nap. Last night. You know, while us grown ups were working. So bright and early this morning, they were up. A was setting up a tea party for them. And we had tons of yummy food. I'm telling you, A is a catch! Any single ladies looking for a good man?

We watched all the coverage. I stayed with the girls. As the rest of the group headed to teach classes. After 5 hours of Royal Wedding coverage, I'm pretty sure A was ready to go work! :) But we had a blast!

"Nana, the princess is pretty. But she doesn't look as beautiful as I thought. How come?" The things that come out of the mouths of babes. :) I think they really thought Kate was going to be like their favorite fairy tale princesses.

My take on the whole affair. I think Kate looked amazing! I loved her dress. The top half, it was just gorgeous. And the veil. So simple and elegant. I love the grandeur of the British Royalty. But the simplicity that Kate and William wanted for their wedding.

What a fun morning we had! Tons of little girls, tutus, tiaras, tea, yummy food, princesses, and flowers. What better way to start a Friday! But now folks, I need to get ready for work. We have rehearsal in just over an hour. Happy Friday! ♫

My Little Monkey

Something that you might not know is, Mi Princesa, she is IN LOVE with monkeys! All and any monkeys. I'm not lying.

So recently, I shouldn't have been too shocked. I was looking fro a new sewing project. And Mi Princesa saw this picture. Needless to say, she requested that I make her a monkey. Just like this one! Because "Nana, you can make anything!" :)

I love this little girl. And if it's a monkey that she wants, it's a monkey that she'll get! I've got tons of scrap fabric. I just need to find some time to sew. You know, before finals take over my life! ♫

Thankful

The last few weeks, heck, the last few months have been tough. Crippling at times. I'm not going to lie. But tonight, I'm Thankful. And very grateful. My Goddaughter, My Lil' Southern Belle, she made it out of surgery. It's going to be a long road. A long road to recovery. But we're all going to make it.

I pray every single day. For her health, safety, and happiness. It means so much to me. Having so much faith in God, it makes my life so much more rewarding. I never feel alone. Because I have someone to depend on. Someone who is always here for me. I'm Thankful. God is the greatest!

And as I know, through experience from the hospital, this is going to be a long road. But I know, by having faith, we're all going to make it. My Lil' Southern Belle is going to make it. She's going to get healthy and strong. And one day, we'll get to run around together. Play in the playground. And snuggle up in bed together. I know this. Because I believe in God. ♫

Abby Cababby

If you are a parent, or spend time with little ones, you'll know who Abby Cadabby is. She is one of the characters from Sesame Street. She is Mi Princesa's favorite character to be exact! And I'm trying to come up with some craft ideas. All based on Miss Abby Cadabby. Something to make for Halloween. And I'm coming up empty handed. Please leave me some suggestions. I could really use them... ♫

Happy Birthday Ol' Blue Eyes!

Today is my dear friend's birthday. Yes, Ol' Blue Eyes is celebrating his birthday. I really hope he enjoys it. And because I know he is working right now, I can reveal a little secret. We're all part of a "Birthday Surprise." Yes, he is getting a "Surprise" Birthday party later today. I guess, I should get going. Right? The band is flying to Sin City for the big surprise.

I know that this "soon-to-be Godfather," would like nothing more than having his Goddaughter, born on his birthday. But I can't guarantee that. Although, My Bestie is in labor. Who knows, My Lil' Southern Belle might just make it before midnight. How cool would her birthdate be...10/10/10! The absolute perfect birthday present for Ol' Blue Eyes.

So while I try to figure out what to give my friend, I just hope he has an amazing day! There are very few friends, that are as amazing as he is. Ol' Blue Eyes deserves to have a great day. Filled with lots of blessings. And some fun. Happy Birthday! ♫
