Little Red Riding Hood

This is probably what you think of when you hear "Little Red Riding Hood." The cute little storybook, that you read when you were 3 years old. That's the idea I had for Halloween this year. So I asked my Mom if she would make me my Halloween costume...

We went fabric shopping months ago. Yes, months ago. And I had picked a more basic and simple pattern. But my Mom liked this one. So it's the one we bought. As of Tuesday, I didn't have a costume. But never fear. My Mom whipped it up in a few hours. That was after her sewing machine died. And she somehow got my broken sewing machine to work.

Yes, my Mom is wonderful! And my costume is hanging very cutely in my office. We're dressing up all weekend at work. I bought some white lace tights and I already have some black high heeled Mary Janes. So much fun! I can't wait until Halloween! It's my favorite holiday!!! ♫

Do You Boo?

That's the little "Boo" poem. I had never heard of "Booing" until I moved out here. From the very 1st Halloween I spent here, I began to "Boo." I read about it in my local newspaper.

Basically, you put together a small package of goodies. It could be Halloween candy, little toys, whatever you'd like. And you include a copy of this poem. But the whole idea of booing, is based on delivering your gift, without your neighbor seeing you.

I just finished my packages. Just for a couple of neighbors and friends. I just have to wait for the perfect time to deliver them. So, do you "Boo?" It really is a lot of fun! ♫

Strawberry Shortcake

What do you think about this costume? A little "racy" huh? I was just doing an innocent search, about a month ago, for a Strawberry Shortcake costume. Not even for me! I was helping a friend. She had 5 costumes to hunt down, for her 5 itty bitties. So I was a little shocked when this popped up, when I typed "Children's Strawberry Shortcake Costume," into Google.

My fellow band members encouraged this purchase. You know, we do perform on and around Halloween. We always dress up. But, I just can't imagine wearing this. Honestly, the only time I really wore a "racy costume," I was in kindergarten. No lie! I was a genie.

Maybe if I was 4 inches taller. Or a few pounds lighter. Heck, if I was just a little braver. But I'm not. Instead, I'm gearing up to be "Little Red Riding Hood." It should be fun. You just never know, I might just leave this on the back burner for now. But there is always next year... ♫

For a Walk Down the Aisle

Like I said in my previous post, V is getting married next year. She is a really good friend of mine. One the first people I met in the Nutrition Program. We became really good friends, along with E. And although, we've all lived in different states for the last few years, we've gotten so much closer.

V has not only asked me to be her "Maid of Honor." But she's also asked me to help here in a few things. I'm more than thrilled to help her. So she's been sending me a few pictures, of things she'd like to have. This pillow, is the main item she'd like.

Isn't it just beautiful? With a really fun and "vintage" feel. Definitely homemade, but filled with love. Something I just might be able to pull off.

All I have are these pictures. No pattern. But it looks like this pillow is made using a doily. So I'm thinking, I can make a round doily. Then make a pillow. And then figure out how in the world to put it together.

First of all, I want to make a doily with hearts. Something like this one. Which happens to be today's Free Pattern of the Day from Free Patterns. Second, V wants it to be lavender. The color of the wedding. Third, I just might be able to pull it off! :)

Yes, I'm getting excited. I'm 95% sure I can make something nice for my friend. Something that feels like it's from a time past. An accessory that will add to the "vintage" feel of the wedding. Now I just need to find all the perfect supplies. That is definitely going to make the entire project work. ♫

Bridesmaid Bunny

Isn't this bunny the cutest? I have a friend,V, who is getting married in about a year. And she found this bunny. It happens to be the Free Pattern of the Day from Free Crochet. And V's asked me if I'd make a couple of these. Wearing lavender dresses. So that the little Flower Girls have a cute present on Wedding Day. It sounds like a plan to me! ♫

I Want Some...

Candy Corn! I NEVER liked it before. But something changed, when I worked at Target. I bought a big, glass pumpkin. And filled it with this mix. It was so yummy! And different. Not like the candy I remember from my childhood. I will not lie, I ate the entire thing!

Now it's all I can think of. Halloween is just days away. And I haven't bought any candy. But this, well it's definitely on the top of my list. Is that crazy? I've become a HUGE fan of this yummy mix.

And I have some plans. Not just to eat these little guys. But to make some yummy cupcakes. And top them with a few fun candies. Yup, it sounds like a good idea to me. I wonder if Walgreen's carries this candy... ♫

Happy Birthday Ol' Blue Eyes!

Today is my dear friend's birthday. Yes, Ol' Blue Eyes is celebrating his birthday. I really hope he enjoys it. And because I know he is working right now, I can reveal a little secret. We're all part of a "Birthday Surprise." Yes, he is getting a "Surprise" Birthday party later today. I guess, I should get going. Right? The band is flying to Sin City for the big surprise.

I know that this "soon-to-be Godfather," would like nothing more than having his Goddaughter, born on his birthday. But I can't guarantee that. Although, My Bestie is in labor. Who knows, My Lil' Southern Belle might just make it before midnight. How cool would her birthdate be...10/10/10! The absolute perfect birthday present for Ol' Blue Eyes.

So while I try to figure out what to give my friend, I just hope he has an amazing day! There are very few friends, that are as amazing as he is. Ol' Blue Eyes deserves to have a great day. Filled with lots of blessings. And some fun. Happy Birthday! ♫

On My Wish List

Have you ever heard about the online shop, Love Stitched? If you haven't, you are surely missing out. Love Stitched has some of the most beautiful items. Accessories that I've been pining after for months!

Like this Rosette Necklace. I just like the "Shabby Chic" feel of it. The mix of materials and textures. It just makes me smile.

This Rosette Headband is another favorite of mine. There is something about the monochromatic feel of it. And the femininity of the headband. I'd love to wear this headband!

Lastly, there's this bead and Rosette Necklace. It's a bit funky. And a bit feminine. I just adore the mix of styles. Something that would definitely dress up my usual t-shirts.

Yes, I'm a HUGE fan of Love Stitched! I like that this shop stocks some unique and feminine accessories. Now if I just had some extra cash. I'd buy a couple of things. Just to add a bit of femininity and elegance to my rather plain wardrobe. ♫

I Want to Make This...

Isn't this the cutest thing ever? I've really been enjoying my crafts lately. Especially sewing. And a bonus to all of this? Making stuff for my favorite itty bitties. No lie! Like this cake, I can just think of at least 10 little girls, who'd enjoy playing with it.

Now if I just had a little more time. And a little more money. That would be great! This doesn't look like a tough project. But one that requires a little bit of time. And some patients.

I'm going to go search through my "crafting stash." Maybe I have some supplies, to try a couple of these. What do you think? Would your little girl like to play with some felt food? ♫

I Heart Boobies

It's October 1st. And a Friday at that. Which means, pink shirts and jeans. Yes, here at the hospital, we are big supporters of October. And all that it stands for in the medical community. Because we HEART women, and boobies. :)

Cases and cases of these amazing bracelets were delivered. And lots of events have been planned. We're ready. Everyday we see and meet women battling Breast Cancer. But this month, we get to celebrate them. And help the fight. We're spreading the word. And I hope that you join us in wearing pink every Friday this month! ♫
