The Girl is After My Heart!

Last week while we were on our adventure, my Mom and I saw this book. They wanted $22, because the Toy Store was on the Plaza. I knew I could get it cheaper. I have a Barnes and Noble Membership. And well, I just knew, some place had to have it for less.

Good thinking on my part. :) Earlier this week, I went to Wal-Mart. I needed water, bread, and ice. And while I was in those killer lines, I found this book. Stuck in with the magazines. Oh, and I had My 'Rella with me. She LOVED this cookbook! Totally geared towards little girls. She was just over the moon with it! All smiles. Telling me about all the "recipeses."

I couldn't resist. Especially when I noticed, it was only $10! Are you kidding me? Well, we just had to make something. So when we went to My Music Man's house to check it, you know, I'm supposed to be "House Sitting," we decided to cook. First, we checked the house. Picked up the mail. That sort of thing. And then, we raided the pantry. Thank God this man likes his comida!

Anyway, we made a couple of things out of the book. It really is so much fun. I can't wait to try it out with more of the ninitas. I know we are going to have a blast! I just need to get another copy of the book. My Compadres were pretty happy too. Who wouldn't be? We arrived with lots of goodies!

When I got ready to leave, My 'Rella said, "Nana, I loved today! We had so much fun! I can't wait to cook again. My second favorite thing in the world, is cooking with you. My first is cuddling and reading with you." Seriously! My heart grew about 100 times. I LOVE that girl! And now, I think we are both Cookbook Collectors. ♫

Sunshine Chicken

Sunshine Chicken

6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/4 c. molasses
2 T. cider vinegar
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
2 T. orange juice
2 t. Dijon mustard
1/8 to 1/4 t. hot pepper sauce

Arrange chicken in a slow cooker; set aside. Combine remaining ingredients and brush over chicken. Cover and cook on low setting for 7 to 9 hours, or on high setting for 3 to 4 hours. Serves 6.

This happens to be this week's "Recipe of the Week" at Gooseberry Patch. And it sounds amazing! Because of the next few weeks, I don't have time to make it. But it's definitely going on my "to-make" list. And I can't wait to get to cook again. I really do miss it! ♫

Pit Stop in a Southern Kitchen

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this, but I LOVE Cookbooks. I've been collecting them for years. Yes, I said years. I especially like the old ones. I find them at Thrift stores and yard sales. But I also go browsing through the bookstore for some fun new ones.

This is one that I recently got as a gift. Yes, it's my favorite cookbook ever! Because Martha and Carol have both included family recipes, and family stories. It's a nice book to just curl up and read. Isn't that weird? That I like to sit and read cookbooks.

Anyway, there are so many recipes that I want to try. I've made a few of the recipes. And they are so yummy! Maybe it's just because I LOVE Southern Food. But this is a really good buy! Run out and get yourself a copy. I promise that you won't be disappointed. ♫

Domestic Goddess?

Tonight was my only night off of work. And I spent it cooking and baking. You would think I'm "Little Sally Homemaker." I baked my Nanie's famous bread. I'm so glad that I begged and begged for that recipe years ago. Then I made caldito. And I even baked a chocolate cake. Can you tell? I was hungry when I started!

Now, I have all this food. And I'm not hungry! Not at all! I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'm so nervous. I still haven't heard about my Auntie. And quite frankly, I have way too much energy right now. I might just go to the gym. At least that way, I can burn some of that energy off. With any luck, Steve my trainer will be there. And he can put me through heck and back!

Yes, I'm going to leave my comfy home, with this yummy meal, to workout. And yes, I'm hoping Steve is there. Not something I say a lot. Because I usually hate going to the gym. I workout every single day. And he puts me through heck and back! Running, lifting weights, the whole works. Let's not even talk about if I'm late or I miss a day. But right now, that's what I need. A good workout. ♫
